The Purpose of our organization is to foster the art of quilting and to encourage a high standard of design and technique in all its various forms. Our guild encourages the preservation and conservation of fine quilts, antique quilts and contemporary quilts for posterity.
Mountain Stars Quilters Guild:
- Meetings are held on the second Saturday of the month in January, March, May, September, and November. In July, the meeting is held on the third Saturday of the month to accomodate our members attending shows such as the Jacksonville Museum Quilters Quilt Show and the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show. Occasionally, our meetings are changed to meet time constraints of our speakers. These changes are announced at the meetings and in the newsletters.
- We have a time of fellowship and chatter while we work on our own projects in the morning from 9:30 a.m. until noon. A business meeting begins at 12:00 p.m. followed by a speaker or a program. A popular event is our Show and Tell, presented by our very talented members. We meet at the Live Oak Grange Hall, which is located at 120 Gardiner Street, Rogue River, Oregon.
- We Bring in nationally known speakers to lecture and conduct workshops for the benefit of our members and the general public.
- We share information concerning our member groups, upcoming quilt shows and other activities by publishing our bi-monthly newsletter.
- We present three workshop retreats a year at Diamond Lake, two in the Spring, and one in the Fall.
- We have an elected board that conducts the business of the guild.
- Our organization relies on volunteers and member participation to make the guild more meaningful to all our members.
